Vänerleden
Vänersborg
In 2022, Vänerleden was opened to the public, one of Sweden's national cycle paths that circles the country's largest lake, spanning approximately 640 kilometers. The path is divided into four stages, each offering many sights and attractions. A leisurely pace on one stage is perfect for a trip lasting about 3-4 days.
Starting Point: Vänersborg
Vänersborg is one of the stops where the stages Vänersborg - Åmål and Vänersborg - Mariestad start or finish. Read more about the different stages on the Vänerleden website.
- Take the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings when you arrive in Vänersborg! Vänerleden passes by our biggest attraction - Halle and Hunneberg. Spend time among the mountains, explore the different trails, visit the Royal Hunting Museum, or kayak in Eldmörjan.
- The path also takes you through the fantastic Skräckle Park. Take a break, have a swim, and enjoy a cup of coffee at Café Skräcklestugan (May-Sept). The park is just a stone's throw from the city center, perhaps you'd like to take a stroll through the charming streets?
- Also, consider making a short detour to Restad Gård. This large green area offers an incredible sculpture park, cultural park, and activity park - all intertwined in one place, and it's also close to the Brinkebergskulle lock. Well worth a few extra pedals!
Bike Map
At the Trollhättan and Vänersborg tourist offices, we sell the Vänerleden bicycle map. You can also order it online (website in swedish).
