Designers in Läckö-Kinnekulle

The Läckö-Kinnekulle district with Lidköping and Götene is home to numerous interesting designers creating everyday items, jewellery, ornaments and textiles. Some of them open their studios to visitors. You can get to know some of them here.

The porcelain town of Lidköping is seeing its proud ceramic heritage being passed on. The Rörstrand factory’s former premises are now home to Porslinsfabriken, which produces ceramics in collaboration with, among others, Svenskt Tenn, Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde art museum and designers such as Anna Lerinder, Astrid Sylwan and Anna Elzer Oscarsson. The old Rörstrand district is also the workplace of Caroline Fredriksson, a ceramic artist who is totally dedicated to her craft and has opened her own studio.

The Hvorslev family have had a shop and workshop in Lidköping since the 1970s. Theresia and Tabita Hvorslev at Silverknappen design jewellery that stands the test of time, with examples including Sagan om ringen (Lord of the Rings), Stairway, Waterfall and Pärlbur.

The little village of Gössäter on Kinnekulle is the home and workplace of gold and silversmiths Lena Åberg and Fredrik Lundberg. They design and produce jewellery and silver corpus items and also create artware objects.

Pia Törnell and Hans-Jörgen Lindqvist at Studio K in Trolmen design, manufacture and sell ceramic objects with a serene beauty, each with its own distinct and natural charm. Studio K has produced adornments for venues such as Arkitekturmuséet and Hässelby Gård metro station.

In an old dairy in Äskekärr at the foot of Kinnekulle you will find the studio of damask weaver Hans Thomsson. On his Jacquard loom he creates linen tablecloths with subtle patterns that vary with changes in light. Hans has collaborated with artists such as Andreas Eriksson (active in Lidköping and on Kinnekulle) and Kazuyo Nomura.
