Fåglaviks Glass Factory
The Glass Factory in Fåglavik was founded in 1874 after wholesale trader A. M. Andersson from Gothenburg.
He was forced to stay overnight in Fåglavik when the train he traveled with got stuck in a snowstorm.
Wholesaler Andersson was looking for a suitable place to build a Glass factory and found that Fåglaviks surroundings with its peat bogs was perfect for to start a Glass factory.
Fåglaviks Glass Factory was one of the most visited tourist destinations in western Sweden in the 1960-70.
Several busloads a day came to look at the glassware and, above all, to buy glass at the factory sales store.
Museum with artistic touch
The museum has an artistic touch and a glassware workshop has been built with tools and materials preserved from the old Glass Factory.
There is also a glass show where the first and last glass produced in Fåglavik are included, ans so also photo documentation.

On the spot today at Fåglavik there is a nice glassblower statue, resting place and an information board that shows pictures and stories from Fåglaviks Glass Factory.
Opening hours for the museum is the same as the opening hours at the library.
