Discover Västra Götaland’s Largest Area of Ancient Farmlands

Walk through a historically rich area full of ancient farmlands, burial fields, and other remnants from our ancestors.

The hilly landscape around Hols Church shows clear signs of early settlement. Before the area was cultivated, it was used as a burial site. The earliest graves are large burial mounds from the Bronze Age, the most prominent being Store Hög, which you encounter at the start of the trail. The path then takes you into the forest landscape where Iron Age graves can be found, with sheep keeping the landscape open during the summer months.

Hols Gärde Cultural Trail is a place where history and nature meet, allowing you to reflect on both the past and the surrounding environment. The trail provides a great opportunity to take a break from everyday life, walk at your own pace, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

And if you're hungry for a snack or a really good meal, the hotel and restaurant Dahlbogården is just nearby!
