Five historic buildnings in Ulricehamn
Ulricehamn has five historic buildings: Källebacka Mansion, Vinsarp Stone House, Bäckagården, the Old Water Plant and the Station Building.
Vinsarp
Vinsarp is located in Dalum, at Vinsarpasjön. Already in the Middle Ages Vinsarp - or Vinsaethorp - was mentioned as a manor for the Vinstorpa clan, a noble family. Until 1470, however, there was a courtyard in Böner parish, one kilometer east from the current location. The stone house must have been built in 1471.
The building in grey stone has the main part of the medieval masonry remaining. The secular buildings (that are not churches) from the Middle Ages are still unusual in Sweden. Other examples are Torpa Stone House in Länghem parish, Vik's Castle in Uppland and Glimmingehus in Skåne.
The basement consists of grand arches, the main floor consists mainly of a beautiful knights' hall with wall paintings from the early 1600. Even the farm's corps de logis is included in the memorial building. This house is from the 1700s and has classic traits.
Privatley owned
The whole estate Vinsarp is privately owned and not open to the public.
