The Dalum Trail

There is a lot to discover on this culture trail. It goes past around 50 croft ruins, many ancient monuments, two lakes with bird watching towers, a mill stone quarry and many areas of outstanding natural beauty. The Dalums Trail is 32 kilometer in total but can be shortened according to choice via several connecting paths, which makes it easy to plan your own round walk.
What to see
A cultural hiking trail that can also be shortened as required, thanks to several connecting trails. You can easily create your own circular route. The trail passes places where there used to be old smallholdings and crofts, stone age cairns and millstone quarries. You also pass two lakes with bird-watching hides and other places of natural beauty.
Services
There are two shelters and several nice picnic areas along the path, and it’s worth making a detour to the 19th century dugout shelter in Nöre, which is always open. There is no accommodation directly by the trail but you can hire cosy cottage accommodation at Frömans Brygga in Trädet, about 13 kilometer away, or stay in the charming historic STF hostel at lovely Årås Mill, in Kölingared, also about 13 kilometer away. If you want to sleep outdoors, this you can do according to the 'Right of Public Access' rules.

32 kilometers wich is suitable for a two-day hike, but the trail is also easy to shorten.
Marking:
Yellow markings. The connecting trails have blue markings.
Level of difficulty:
Moderate, although some sections are difficult.
Start and end:
The Dalum Trail has several starting points. A suitable starting point is Dalum church, follow the road to Nöre, opposite the church, and the connecting trail to the Dalum Trail is on the left after the residential building. Parking spaces are available along the 46 road towards Övre Vång on the connecting trail to the Dalum Trail. The trail is located in Ulricehamn Municipality.
How to get here:
Public transport: There are buses with Västrtrafik going from Ulricehamn to Dalum. The bus stops close to the trail are called "Plate" and "Spångängen". Check the time table and the departure times beforehand! There are frequent connections with public transport to Ulricehamn from both Jönköping and Borås.
