The university offers study programmes, second cycle programmes and a variety of courses in computing and IT, economy and leadership, health and care, teachers and languages, media, the individual and society as well as technology.
It offers work-related education and collaboration with society and business. Through Högskolan Väst's profile - Work Integrated Learning, WIL - students gain experience of working life already during their education.
University West is commissioned by the government to develop the pedagogy around WIL. An example of WIL in education is Cooperative Education (Co-op) where the studies are interspersed with periods of paid work.
APPLICABLE RESEARCH
Research is conducted in the areas of technology, social sciences, health and health sciences and the humanities. University West's priority research areas are work integrated learning, child and youth studies and production technology.
University West has recently established the research environment Primus, which, via the KK Foundation's program "KK Environment", will develop strong research and education in technology and learning. Primus ultimately aims to strengthen Swedish industry.
An important interdisciplinary field of research is work-integrated learning. There is a strong connection between research at the university and undergraduate programs. University West has received entitlement to award two third-cycle qualifications in the areas Production Engineering and Work Integrated Learning (WIL).
