Welcome to the Älvrummet nature reserve, the valley that borders the Göta älv river, and invites you to enjoy magnificent scenery, beautiful hiking trails and wonderful views. There are several hiking trails in the area, and a visit to the peak Kopparklinten is a must.
Hiking in Älvrummet
The proximity to Trollhättan city center makes Älvrummet a popular area for both residents and visitors all year round. Here are several hiking trails that takes you all the way from the Trollhättan Waterfalls down to the Locks area. Walk along the Göta älv river or in the dense forest of Älvrummet, there is a lot to choose from here.
The Copper Cliff
In the middle of Älvrummet lies Kopparklinten (The Copper Cliff). From here the view of the valley is magnificent. Here you stand 77 meters above sea level and can look out over large parts of Trollhättan city and the surrounding nature and the Göta älv river. Below the cliff is the Olidan hydro power station, one of Sweden's oldest hydropower plants still in use
Other popular sights in the area
When you visit Älvrummet you are also close by many of the popular tourist destinations in Trollhättan. Here you will find the Trollhättan Waterfalls where you can experience a fantastic spectacle during summer when 300 000 liters of water per second falls out of the floodgates. The waterfalls are opened at specific times throughout the summer, read more here. (Due to the energy crisis there will be no release of water in the falls during the summer of 2023 exept for during the Fallens Dagar festival).
Here is also one of Sweden's oldest hydropower plants still in use; Olidan. During the summer, guided tours are organized here starting from Insikten. At the edge of Strömslund, near the Trollhättan Waterfalls, lies the open-air museum Forngården. Here you can see tools and buildings from old Trollhättan.
