Saab Car Museum celebrating 50 years
Trollhättan
At the Saab Car Museum, the legendary Saab spirit lives on – stronger than ever! In 2025, the museum turns 50, and we want to celebrate this.
We will not only celebrate the museum but also highlight interesting people, exciting stories, and important events that have shaped the history of the Saab company and its cars.
By spreading out events and activities throughout the year, we hope that as many people as possible can visit the Saab Car Museum in a festive atmosphere. The museum in Trollhättan will, of course, be the center of the celebration, but we will also appear at other locations where car enthusiasts gather.
The events we present here form the backbone of this year’s program, but don’t be surprised if more activities pop up during the year, both standalone events and various program points related to the events presented here.
We will continuously present detailed programs on our website and social media, and we truly look forward to meeting all of you who want to celebrate the museum’s first 50 years with us and our partners.
Feel free to visit us with your own Saab during the anniversary year of 2025! A Saab is, after all, best driven – all the way home to Trollhättan.
Program for the Birthday Celebration
Roger & Saab – Vernissage Saturday, March 15
As a press photographer at the local newspaper TTELA, Roger Lärk covered Saab through thick and thin. Now, he has delved deep into the archives to present nearly 100 photographs from 1973 to 2013, where the human element, rather than the car, is in focus. These images will be displayed in a large-scale photography exhibition at the Saab Car Museum for the entire year.
Hello Innovatum District – April 26
Together with other actors in the Innovatum District, Saab Car Museum invites you to a day with various activities. Be sure to see the exhibition Roger & Saab with historical images from press photographer Roger Lärk. In the museum’s film room, interesting historical documentaries will be shown, and our volunteers will guide visitors through the exhibition.
Göteborg Classic Car Weekend – May 24–25
A new car event focusing on classic cars will take place at the former shipyard area of Lindholmen. Saab Car Museum will showcase unique cars from its collection, all of which have a connection to the legendary rally driver and PR figure Erik Carlsson.
Motorhistoriska Dagen – Friday, June 6
Motorhistoriska Dagen is celebrated in many places across the country to highlight the vehicle history and cultural heritage. Saab Car Museum and MHRF (Motor Historical Federation) invite clubs and enthusiasts to gather at the museum, which will serve as a hub for various gatherings and events in the region throughout the day. Inside the museum, lectures and activities will be held.
Birthday Party at Saab Car Museum – 50th Anniversary Celebration, Saturday, September 6
On Saturday, September 6, we will celebrate Saab Car Museum’s 50th anniversary! There will be several different activities, where visitors can see and hear some of the museum’s cars as they are showcased around the museum. There will also be lectures, a workshop tour, and something delicious with coffee to celebrate the milestone.
Night at the Museum – Saturday, November 8
In the evening, we offer visitors the chance to experience the museum’s car exhibition in a unique way. We will dim the regular lighting and instead highlight the shapes of the cars with atmospheric lighting. In a pleasant setting, we will discuss various Saab solutions related to the theme "light."
