Annebergs Distilleries
Tidaholm

One of Sweden's Few Preserved Distilleries

At Annebergs distillery, spirits were produced between 1886 and 1951. It's a remarkable building with a special ambiance and atmosphere to experience.

History

Annebergs distillery is part of the Anneberg estate, which was established through the division of Dimbo Royal Farm in 1787. Per Alexander Rudbeck founded the estate and named it after his wife Anne, hence the name Anneberg.

Spirit Production

The production of spirits came to the estate with the Berglund family in 1846, initially in a location called Sköllen on the estate's pastures. In 1886, the production was moved to the estate itself and remained there until it ceased operations in 1951 under the ownership of Karin Hagman, the daughter of Frans August Berglund. Unfortunately, Berglund took the recipes for the grain spirits and aquavit to the grave upon his death in 1927. However, in the early 2000s, the grain spirits were revived with the help of VinContoret and are now available for purchase at Systembolaget.

Annebergs Distillery Today

The distillery building was constructed in 1889, replacing the original, which was likely made of wood and had burned down. The building remained untouched from the time production ceased in 1951 until its restoration in 2007. It is now preserved as a cultural heritage site. The estate is currently run by the fourth generation of the family.
