Cultural centre with courses for beginners as well as more experienced participants

The Gerlesborg School of Fine Art is beautifully situated on the seafront in Hamburgsund, midway between Uddevalla to the south and Strömstad to the north. It offers a two-year foundation course in art and a wide range of shorter courses for beginners and more experienced participants. A number of different themes and techniques are taught by professional artists, including watercolour, oil and acrylic painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and textile work. It is often possible to book courses at short notice, with or without accommodation at the college. Gerlesborg Kök och Kafé is open all year round, serving coffee and cakes or lunch to hungry visitors.

Exhibitions, concerts and lectures

Art exhibitions, concerts, lectures and stage shows are arranged throughout the year. Swedish and international musicians play concerts here, and guest artists often give talks on their exhibitions in the college gallery and art museum. One student summarised her experience in the following words:

There is a lot to discover around the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art during the whole year. Go cycling or walking along the coastal path or in the Tanum world heritage site, kayak along the wonderful coast, go shopping at Smögenbryggan, enjoy freshly caught fish and seafood, visit Havets Hus and the Nordens Ark wild life park, which focuses on animal protection.
