The City Hall
Strömstad
The current City Hall was completed in 1917. The building was built in Art Nouveau style. In the house there is a magic number symbolism - all according merchant Adolf Fritiofsberg Cavalli-Holmgren's will. It was he who donated money for the building.
Cavalli-Holmgren wanted the town hall was inaugurated 27 January 1911. This did not happen. The building was completed only in 1917. At that time the relationship between the donor and the rulers of Strömstad was frosty, and any inauguration was not up to date. History tells us that the donor therefore never at ease, and he and oversight to the town hall at night ever since the house was finished. The opening was the first one hundred years later on January 27 in 2017, after the house underwent an extensive renovation.
Magic numbers
Adolf Fritiofsberg Cavalli-Holmgren built the town hall in memory of their parents.
Two dates were particularly important on January 27, which was his father's birthday, and 14 May was the mother's birthday.
