Follow the winding gravel road edged with woods and fields. When you start wondering if you’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere, keep going a bit further, until finally, deep in the forests of Dalsland, you come to Wood Wise Cabins – a place where you can really get away from it all, amidst tranquil forests and lakes.

The glass cabin is situated in a rugged pine forest carpeted with lush bilberry bushes, far from the nearest neighbour or busy roads. It’s natural sounds and creatures that will keep you company here. A short walk from the glass cabin is a clear lake with its own BBQ area and swimming beach.

Here, everything happens on nature’s own terms

At Wood Wise Cabins the natural surroundings steer how you spend your days, whether that’s hiking and “forest bathing” in the old growth forest, paddling canoes or kayaks, having a dip in the clear waters of the lake, or breathing in the fresh air from the steps of the cabin.

Spending time in the forest will lower your stress levels. Take the opportunity to really wind down.

There are lots of lovely walking trails in the forest and during late summer and autumn it teems with bilberries and mushrooms here. Down by the lake you can have a barbecue and listen to the tawny owls hooting in the evening.

Wood Wise Cabins is run by nature enthusiasts Heidi and Mats, alongside their two dogs Baldur and Rakel. In the morning they arrive with a breakfast basket full of local delicacies, and when they’re in season, berries from their own garden of course.

How to get to the glass cabin

The glass cabin at Wood Wise Cabins is situated approximately 15 kilometres from Bengtsfors, just less than 1.5 hours from Karlstad. It’s around 2.5 hours to Gothenburg.  

The nearest bus stop is Heden Laxarby. From there it’s 3 kilometres to the glass cabins. If you are arriving by car turn off route 164 at the sign saying “Kronan 2”. Drive two kilometres along the gravel road, past the village of Kronan and another 200 metres until you see a blue and white passing place sign on the right. Turn right and carry on along the little forest road for around 900 metres when you will arrive at the parking area, which is free of charge.
