Kålland by bike
The Kålland peninsula just alongside Lidköping offers lots to discover, and its widespread network of small country lanes with minimal traffic makes it ideal for a family outing on two wheels. Follow this suggested day tour!
Begin on the outskirts of Lidköping at Rådåsgården and cycle up towards Råda vy (viewpoint), where you can enjoy the views and try out the excellent outdoor gym. Then continue out toward Örslösa and Söne, where you can stop in for a bite to eat at the Mejeriet i Söne shop and café or purchase “Take-away fika”. If you opt for take-away refreshments, a good spot to enjoy them is Svalnäs bathing area.
TIP! If you want to make it a full-day outing, you can take time to explore Hindens Rev and see how far out along the promontory you can walk (depends on the water level).
Then continue on towards Skalunda and Rackeby, cross the main road in Tolsjö, from where the route follows the shoreline of Lake Vänern back towards Lidköping. You can also take a brief detour here to meet the animals at the charming Stadsnära Lantgård (Urban Farm).
Depending on whether you decide to do your trip in the morning or afternoon, you have the tempting option of either beginning or ending your ride with lunch at Närebo and taking a look around their wonderful farm shop.
So, tired and happy after a delightful day, why not spare yourself the effort of cooking? Fortunately, the town is filled with experts chefs, so you can purchase food to take home from one of the many appealing restaurants. Our suggestions are Feeling, Bakgårn or Stadshotellet.
