Skara
The foundation for a botanical garden in Skara was laid as early as 1776 by Peter Hernquist, one of Carl von Linné's disciples.
The disciple of Carl von Linné started to lay out a Hortus Botanicus Scarensis by planting a number of fruit trees. Later on, other sorts of trees and plants, such as medicinal and kitchen herbs were added.
In the Skara book from 1913, the botanical garden is described as being a fairly spacious area for taking a stroll. At that time there were not many parks in the cities.
Graduation ceremonies for the high school students, finishing their third year, are traditionally taking place in the park every year.
