Part of
A paved cycle path with water on both sides

Stage Ulricehamn – Tranemo (43km)

This is a fantastically beautiful part of the cycle path! You cycle along the Åsunden lake, with steep leaf-covered slopes and hilly terrain - and a magnificent view of the lake. This is a popular excursion spot for Ulricehamn residents as well. Here there are plenty of benches and tables to unpack the picnic basket on.

Ulricehamn

Ulricehamn is known for its genuine and picturesque center surrounded by Åsunden. The lake has left its mark on the urban area with its water activities, surroundings and tranquility. Ulricehamn is a changing city that develops all year round. Space for relaxation and tranquility, nature and city life exist side by side.

We recommend a stop at the lakeside in Ulricehamn. The former railway area has been carefully converted into a nice area with boathouses where that have canoe rental, a restaurant and café. You can also rent bikes here! The old station house is home to Ulricehamns Tourist Office, and there you can get more information about what's going on right now. Feel free to visit Ulricehamn City and fill up the picnic basket.

Skottek

Just as you've left Ulricehamn, you pass Skottek, a memorial commemorating that Sten Sture the Younger was hit by a cannonball and mortally wounded in the Battle of Åsunden. This area used to be the border between Sweden and Denmark and is a site of several battles as a result. Today there is a campsite here that houses a cabin area and a restaurant. So if you want to spend the night here, it's perfectly fine.

Cooling tunnel

After Skottek, we offer a mini-adventure. The cycle path takes you through an 80 meter long tunnel. If you are cycling on a hot summer day, you will enjoy the coolness in here!

Marbäck

History also reveals itself in Marbäck. Bredgårdsmannen - a 10,000-year-old skeleton - was found by an excavator in this area. Bredgårdsmann later turned out to be one of the absolute oldest skeletal finds in Scandinavia.

Korpebobergs lövskogar

The beautiful nature reserve Korpebobergs lövskogar is located along the eastern shore of Åsunden and consists of areas of deciduous forest concentrated around the Näsboholm, Kärrabo and Korpebo farms. The hilly landscape is also home to open overgrown meadows and an almost kilometer long boulder-rich mountain slope.

Lake Åsunden

Cycle on through Näsboholm, an idyllic little cottage area on the eastern shore of Lake Åsunden. After you have passed the area, you will find an incredibly beautiful place by the lake - so feel free to stop here for a while.

Vegby

You then pass Vegby, a nice little community on the shores of Lake Sämsjön. Feel free to take a break at the Hembygdsstugarna or the beach, where there are nice barbecue areas and a small shop.

Månstad

Månstad is the small community that has more cows than residents. The cycle path passes through the "centre", which mainly consists of beautiful agricultural landscapes and farms. Stay in the station area for a while and take the opportunity to have coffee in the barbecue hut, walk to the Nature Room or why not take a cooling shower?

Hofsnäs Herrgård

Make a detour from the cycle path and enjoy a gourmet journey through Sjuhärad's farms and nature at Hofsnäs Herrgård. Here you will not only find the food, but also the surroundings and the historic buildings that are well worth a detour.

Torpa Stenhus

If you want to spend the night in historic surroundings in a scenic area, Torpa Stenhus is an excellent choice. It is one of Sweden's best preserved manor seats from the 16th century. Of course with castle ghosts and many exciting stories. There are guided tours and summer exhibitions that you can enjoy if you want to take a break along the way.

Limmared

We highly recommend Glasets Hus in Limmared. Experience a glass exhibition and glassblowing in this fantastic glassworks. There is also a café, a large fireplace and a beautiful winter garden to enjoy the food in. It is also in Limmared that the famous ABSOLUT vodka bottle is manufactured.

Here you can also make a stop and eat good home cooking at Limmareds inn in the historic railway house. Particularly fitting - as you are riding along the embankments! Nearby you will find the Glasparken activity park with adventure and play for children. There is a large pirate ship, a parkour course, skate park, area for ball sports, trampolines and more. Tranemo Municipality's coolest activity park for sure! In Limmared, you can also find many second-hand stores – and grab yourself a bargain!

When you have cycled out of the community, you will see the sign for Limmared Manor. Cycle there! There is a farm shop with a lot of locally grown produce from the Sjuhärad area. Meat from the farm, crisp bread, jam and other exciting food from Sjuhäradsmat. Note! Remember to check the opening hours first, but if you call before, there is a good chance that the doors will be opened for you!

Tranemo

Tranemo is named after the crane. You can see it, and many other birds, at Tranemo lake, which glistens invitingly in the middle of the community. In Tranemo there is a hexagonal church that must be seen! It is unique in its kind, with its hexagonal shape and seven towers. Tranemo church was designed by Borås architect Emil Langlet. There were two purposes when it was built, on the one hand it was an effective way to create many seats and also to clearly show that the congregation gathers around the sacraments of baptism and communion: the baptismal font and the communion table were placed in the middle of the church.
