Stage Svenljunga – Borås (38km)

This section of Sjuhäradsrundan runs for the most part on disused railways. Most of it is paved, but about 7 km is hard packed gravel and about 1 km with looser gravel.

Svenljunga

Most of the town's shops are located around the beautiful, cobbled square in Svenljunga. If you want to fill up the energy depots, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants. Why not enjoy an ice cream right on the edge of Ätran? Another good break activity is to follow the cultural trail around the square and take part in stories about the history of Svenljunga. And if you want to do something other than cycling, the health care facility Moga Fritid is located one kilometer from the square. Here there is a café, bathing, a steam sauna and other leisure activities.

Kindsbanan

Next is Kindsbanan, where freight trains served Borås and Svenljunga between 1885 and 1902. This makes it one of Sweden's shortest-lived railways. Some sections consist of hard-packed dirt road, but otherwise the road is paved with many lakes and swimming spots along the road. Cycling in parts over tree top height!

Sexdrega

One of Sweden's more unusual place names. Here you can enjoy pizza or fill up the picnic depots at Larssons livs.

Lockryd – en doft av myr och kaffe

Between Svenljunga and Sexdrega, you cycle on a straight cycle path that takes you through fresh-smelling marshland. The Kitchen garden is in Lockryd if you are getting hungry will also find Lockryds cottages which offers overnight stays.

Cooling swim

Along this stretch there are plenty of beautiful lakes to enjoy – and plenty of places to swim! Sandsjön, Hagalundssjön and Stora Transåssjön all offer a refreshing dip. At Stora Transåssjön, you can also fish and spend the night in a shelter from the wind.

Golf course in Kråkered

Before rolling into Borås, you also pass the Borås Golf course in Kråkered. There is a café and restaurant with both lunch of the day and an à la carte menu, as well as a large terrace where you can drink something refreshing. On the main course, you don't need a green card, you can "pay & play" and try golfing for a while. There is also the option of staying overnight in a simpler guest house - in the middle of the golf course!

Borås

There is always something going on here! The city offers a large range of events, shopping, wonderful restaurant experiences and beautiful views along the Viskan river. In Borås, proximity is key and most things are within walking distance. The city is full of exciting public art that has given Borås the nickname Sculpture City, and two exciting art museums complete the cultural offer. In Borås Zoo you can meet exotic animals in the middle of town or just enjoy nice green hiking trails.

The textile city has developed over the years to become so much more, even though there are many reminders that textiles, design and fashion still have an important role. There is Gina Tricot's characteristic headquarters, Sweden's only textile university and a fantastic textile museum which has puts on various exciting exhibitions all the time. In the old textile properties, is housed the modern textile cluster Textile Fashion Center which has emerged and now brings together everything from education and research to design and catwalk shows.
