Gäsene Cheese shop

At Gäsene Ost they think it is daft to change a winning concept, for example, the recipe for a really good cheese. In 1931, the first cheese rolled out of the dairy and it has been rolling ever since. Making cheese is, in short, pure craftsmanship, from start to finish.

Gäsene dairy was established as a way for the farmers in the area to receive fair payment for their milk. Even today, they are Sweden's smallest dairy association, owned by 23 local farmers who supply all the milk for production. This means that not a drop of milk has more than 25 minutes to the dairy - we call that locally produced!

In the dairy's cheese shop, you can peruse among aged hard cheeses, creamy domestic cheeses and the occasional special cheese. Sample, buy your favorites and supplement with other local delicacies from the store's range.

Åsundsholm

Step into author, Birgit Th Sparre's home, beautifully situated on the eastern shore of Lake Åsund. Today, the manor is a complete facility with golf, accommodation and restaurant, the latter being run by friends Carl and Jacob.

Carl and Jacob started their cooking careers together in high school and soon had the common dream of running their own place with high-class food.  For Carl, the shared dream took the road via the world-famous restaurant Noma and the Michelin-starred restaurant Knystaforsen in Halland, before the dream of a restaurant together with his friend came true in Åsundsholm.

At Åsundsholm, Carl and Jacob have created a unique dining experience that exceeds all expectations. With their passion for cooking and using local ingredients, combined with an eye for detail and presentation, each dish is a taste experience you won't forget.

Rydals Mansion

Rydals Mansion was built in 1853 as a manager's residence for the company Fabriken Rydahls Manufacturing AB. Today, Olof Söderberg, who grew up in Gothenburg's archipelago, runs a restaurant in the manor building. Olof loves the sea and had rarely been inland and never in a forest, but when he came to Sjuhärad and Rydal for the first time, he couldn't resist and persuaded the rest of the family that they should buy the manager's beautiful residence and continue to run the restaurant.

At Rydals Herrgård, meals can be enjoyed in the park-like garden or inside the Manor's beautiful contemporary dining rooms. Often, sing-along evenings, concerts or music festivals are arranged in the large garden.

Villa Strömfors

No expense was spared when the Stucco, specially designed tile stoves and carvings were created early in the last century when the economy allowed for these extravagances. We are more than grateful for that today when Villa Strömfors opens its magnificent doors to residents and visitors. Here guests are welcomed to events, dinners, wine tastings, training weekends and concerts. On selected dates, you can book an overnight stay in one of the fantastic rooms.

There is no door into the kitchen in the villa. When the opportunity arises, you as a guest are welcome to drop by and say hello. You usually collect breakfast for yourself from the old iron stove. Other meals are served in the halls, on the veranda and sometimes outside by the pool. The dinners are a chapter in themselves. Chef Mattias has full freedom in the kitchen and his love for new flavours and combinations makes it impossible to put a label on what is served. What is promised with certainty is that it will be a well-prepared and beautiful meal where you will be treated to a memorable food journey!
