For experienced cyclists looking to take on a longer tour on Orust, we recommend this beautiful route. It offers diverse landscapes and takes you along partially narrow and winding country roads. Enjoy forests and open fields, farmland, lakes, cliffs, and the sea.
Ceramics at Slussen
Begin your journey from Henån, where you'll find a grocery store and the Orust Tourist Information with rental bikes and maps. From Henån, head towards eastern Orust and Slussen. Along the way to Slussen, you'll pass Anns Keramikbod, a charming stop. At Slussen, you can take a dip in the sea, and if you want to split your cycling trip, you can stay overnight at Slussens Pensionat.
The route continues through the outdoor areas of Ålgård and Grindsbyvattnet. Make a stop at the lovely rest area at Ålgårds kvarn (Ålgård's mill) before heading south to Stillingsön by the sea. Stillingsön is an old seaside resort, once home to a guesthouse, a bathhouse, and a society salon. Pause and stock up on supplies at Stillingsöns Handel (Stillingsön's Shop). The journey continues south towards Varekil, where you can also replenish your provisions. Here, you'll find rental bikes at Frendo in Varekil.

Stop for a Swim
Now, we turn our bikes northward and ride along winding country roads through historic farmlands and beautiful landscapes. On the final stretch towards Henån, you'll pass Kungsviken and Svineviken. In Kungsviken, there's a bathing area with piers and a diving tower.
Recommendations
Consider splitting the tour into two days. Begin your journey in Varekil and rent a bike there. Cycle along the eastern side of Orust towards Slussens Pensionat or Villa Frideborg in Henån for overnight accommodation.
