Tavlebord Honey Farm is in Tegneby on Orust, which is a particularly lush part of Bohuslän’s beautiful countryside. Locally produced, organic and fair trade food are all natural parts of the beehive communities here, just like the honey farm’s certified organic café. Everything is lovingly produced in its own bakery and light lunch dishes are also served, with vegan, gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free options. Try out the speciality for Bohuslän, egg-cheese, or Helge’s famous vanilla buns. The farm shop sells the farm’s own honey as well as skin-care and hair-care products to buy.

Other attractions at the honey farm

For those who want to learn more about bees there are guided tours, a one-hour bee safari or you can try out the role of beekeeper for a day. The permanent Bee-exhibition teaches us about the bee’s vital importance for people and their environment. There is also a play area for children.

Spend a night in the Bee-hive!

Book a room in the unique Bee-hive accommodation, where the building is like a bee-hive in colour and shape and you sleep in sweet “honey cells”. The other B&B rooms on the honey farm are in the newly-renovated farmhouse. Every room has a double bed, two single beds, a shower and toilet. The rooms are also equipped with a kitchenette, coffee machine and kettle. Bed linen, towels, TV and WiFi are all included, as well as access to the garden, BBQ, hammock and the bee exhibition after the café is closed. Breakfast (an eco-basket) is optional.

In the lounge area you can enjoy a sauna and a hot tub. Perhaps try Tavlebord’s own face mask or sauna honey with exfoliating effect? It is both fragrant and moisturizes the skin.
