Lugnås church
Lugnås
On top of Lugnås mountain, with a beautiful and expansive view, sits the church with its origins in the 1100's. It got its current looks in 1776.
Inside the church, you can see clear traces of the medieval church. The font is from the 1200's and the paintings around a small window were most likely painted in the 1400's. The pulpit is from the 1700's but the hand-carved evangelists decorating it were made during a later time by a local. The altarpiece depicts Jesus' visit to the siblings Martha, Mary and Lazarus in Bethany.
The church organ is from the 1870's, but was partially rebuilt in 1970. In the church, there's also two churchbells from 1928, and there has been a third from 1786 that now sits in the museum in Skara.
In the chancel, there's a unique grandfather clock which was made by the soldier Petter Boo. In it, there's a disc which, as the clock strikes 12, lets the apostles come marching out from the clock.
