Many dogs love to swim, but on the public beaches it is not always allowed to have your dog with you. In the municipality of Mariestad, there are plenty of opportunities for a nice dip, regardless of whether you are an animal or a human. With 14 miles of coastline, there are many coves and cliffs to take a swim from.
Special bathing area for dogs, at Sandviken.
Dogs are not allowed in the public bathing areas, but there is a special bathing area for dogs. This can be found at Sandviken, south of the center by the golf course.
At the parking lot there is a map where the dog bath is clearly marked. Continue past the public beach and in the next swimming cove is the dog beach. It is a walk of approximately 350 meters through the Sandviken nature reserve. Here is a sandy beach with some rocks on the side.
Toilets can be found by the parking lot.
