Coastal path

Hike in unique coastal environment!

The coastal path is a coastal walk through time and through the contemporary landscape. Moraines, cut out rocks and ice caves testify to the inland ice and its forces. The traces of ancient nature and culture still exist today.

Medieval churches, fortifications, fishermen's cottages, mansions and distinctive picturesque fishing communities - a walk along the coastal path is something extraordinary. It crosses mountains and goes through valleys, forests and pastures. The saltwater and shellfish are never far away - not even if you're in the middle of a field of blueberries in the darkest forest.

The coastal path was inaugurated in 2007 and is a cooperation between Norway and Sweden in the "Kustnära" Hiking Trail project. The coastal path in Bohuslän is either continuous or loops and it goes through Uddevalla, Stenungsund, Tjörn, Orust, Lysekil, Sotenäs, Tanum and Strömstad. The coastal path and Bohusleden connect in some places to each other. Together they form a unique management system that combines contrast-rich coastal and forest environments in Bohuslän.

Here you will find the coastal path in digital form.

It can also be purchased in book form, at Lysekils Tourist Information,
