Baroque castle by lake Vänern with restaurant, hotel and Naturum

Visit Magnus De la Garies' Läckö Castle and its fabulous castle gardens, situated on a promontory in the Eken archipelago in lake Vänern. It has a restaurant, hotel, conference facilities, a visitor centre and Naturum-The Victoria House is only a short walk from the castle.

Sweden's most beautiful castle with unique gardens

Welcome to Läckö Castle, voted as Sweden's most beautiful castle by the Swedes themselves, with seven centuries of history and uniquely preserved baroque halls. It is one of West Sweden's most popular tourist destinations where there are summer concerts, opera, guided tours and many other activities arranged for adults and children at the castle.

Every spring the garden called Lilla Slottsträdgården is dug and planted, and every summer visitors are enchanted by the colours, shapes and fragrances as they walk down the old stone staircase. The garden is renowned as a delight for the senses, a wonderful exhibition with a unique design.

Naturum och Visitor Centre

Only 300 meters from Läckö Castle is Naturum Vänerskärgården – The Victoria House, beautifully set among Vänern's reeds, which were used as an inspiration by White Arkitekter when the building was designed.

Victoriahuset is Sweden's only Naturum which is also a hotel, with the Visitor Centre on the ground floor. You can obtain information, book tickets for events and check in for overnight stays here. Read a little about the local animal and plant life and the geology and cultural history that have influenced the area before venturing out into the natural world of the Vänern archipelago.

Restaurant, hotel, campsite and guest harbour

The restaurant Hvita Hjorten (The White Deer) and Café Stallet are right on the castle embankment, with an amazing view over lake Vänern. Enjoy a first-class meal with locally produced ingredients and vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs from Lilla slottsträdgården.

If you need to stay overnight, you will sleep well in one of Naturum's 15 hotel rooms. They are quiet and soothing with natural décor, comfortable beds and beautiful views of the forest, the castle or the Vänern archipelago.

Läckö Camping and guest harbour is really close to the castle in a lush woodland area. There are spaces for caravans and motorhomes as well as pitches for tents and fully equipped service buildings. If you arrive by boat, Läckö's harbour has about 60 places for guests, a service building, a recycling station, toilet/shower and fresh water.
