Manor with origins dating back to the 14th century

Hjelmsäter Manor is an old farmhouse building.

Hjelmsäter Manor is an old farmhouse building that was remodeled in the 1830s. The cellar still contains the original vaults from the 15th century. The two wings of the manor were constructed in the 18th century. An old granary dating back to the 15th century is located on the property, which has also served as a gathering hall and church over the years. Hjelmsäter is mentioned in historical records as early as 1350, when it was owned by Torkel Erengiselsson. In the latter part of the 1350s, it was owned by Gunhild Torkelsdotter. From 1382 to 1412, it was leased by Queen Margaret. In 1478, it was inherited by the knight Torkel Braun.

The estate then belonged to Knut Knutsson Roos, and over time, it had many owners, including several members of the Roos family. The last member of the Roos family to own it was Carl Georg Roos, who passed away on the estate in 1760. The Soop family owned the estate for many years but was eventually forced to sell due to financial decline. Magnus Roos purchased it in 1725, likely to reclaim the old ancestral estate. Since the early 19th century, Hjelmsäter has belonged to the Hamilton family.

The history of Hjelmsäter is closely connected to Blomberg, as both estates often had the same owners. As with many estates, there are valuable artworks and family heirlooms at Hjelmsäter. Perhaps the most valuable is a Renaissance mahogany cabinet, which is believed to be a war trophy from the Thirty Years' War. It is said to contain the so-called Ekeblad service, which once belonged to Claes Julius Ekeblad of Stola. The service consists of numerous porcelain pieces decorated in black and gold with green oak leaves.

One of the wings houses a weaving room, and the old granary can be rented for baking thin bread. Annual autumn fairs are also held here, attracting a considerable number of artisans and visitors.
