Shorter loop trail on Högkullen - 4.7 km

The Älgslingan hiking trail is one of three slightly shorter loops at the top of Högkullen. It's perfect if you want to take a shorter day hike but still experience stunning nature. The trail is 4.7 km long and takes you past several highlights

The Älgslingan hiking trail traverses hilly terrain but with good quality trails and roads. Part of the route merges with the Kinnekulle hiking trail.

The trail passes through the Stora Salen nature reserve, a popular destination offering a wide view over the archipelago of Lake Vänern. Stora Salen's meadow is mown and raked in late summer, and you can find a rich variety of flora here, such as the fragrant orchid, field gentian, and dropwort, as shown in the image above.

Additionally, the landscape is dominated by a beautiful biotope-protected spruce forest. Hiking in this larger, relatively mature, and untouched spruce forest is a unique experience.
