NATURE, CULTURE, HISTORY AND ACTIVITIES

Kinnekulle offers a multitude of experiences for all ages. You will find accommodation in unique environments, top-class dining, magnificent views, magical scenery, activities and events all year round. Kinnekulle is located in Götene Municipality and is part of a UNESCO Global Geopark and the biosphere reserve.

Once you have visited Kinnekulle, you will want to return. It offers a wealth of experiences at any time of year. Back when Carl Linnaeus visited this 306-metre plateau mountain in the 18th century he praised it and counted Kinnekulle among the most remarkable places in the kingdom. The mountain was also recently named one of Sweden’s most beautiful locations by the readers of the magazine Sveriges Natur. The unique geological composition gives the area its distinctive character and gives rise to a number of rare plants, including the attractive and delicious wild garlic and a variety of orchids. Kinnekulle also has a long and fascinating history stretching back to the early Middle Ages, so you don’t need to go far to discover numerous cultural and historical sights. Nowhere else has such a dense concentration of beautiful mediaeval churches, and along the shoreline you will also find grand manor houses and country estates that you can view along the way.

The picturesque scenery of Kinnekulle is an invitation to get active. So take the opportunity to explore wonderful hiking trails, or why not enjoy the scenery on two wheels and try out the mountain-bike trails? Finally, a history of creation and production has made this area a creative district with numerous craftspeople who are keen to invite you to view their work. So welcome to Kinnekulle, and come back again soon.
