Moster Elins - ice cream in the harbour

In the harbour area you will find the ice cream café Moster Elins. Ice cream has been served here since 2007 and with over 40 various flavours on the meny this is the place to visit when in Hjo. Moster Elins also offer waffels, soft ice cream, coffee and milk shakes. Even ice cream for our four legged friends is available.

Favourite flavour of the owner

"Without doubt the best flavour is Svarta Malin (black Malin) - our salt liquorice ice cream" says Jessica, the owner of Moster Elins.

Gula Paviljongen - ice cream by the river

By the river Hjoån, off the main street heading up to the market square, you will find the small but oh so cute little ice cream café Gula Paviljongen (the yellow pavilion, since it is located right in this small little yellow pavilion). At Gula Paviljongen you can buy locally made ice cream from Wetternglass. A mix between Swedish traditional creamy ice cream and the lighter italian gelato. They also serve nicecream, ice cream with a banana base as well as sorbets.

Psst! Gula Paviljongen bake their own waffles - so just follow the lovely sweet smell and you will find this gem!

Favourite flavour of the owner

"Strawberry beats everything and brings back the best of memories", says Bobby, the owner of Gula Paviljongen and Wetternglass. .

Österhagen - ice cream at the deli shop Gusto Classico

Österhagen Glass is the oldest ice cream maker in Hjo, who started their production already in 1993. They are specialised in typical Swedish ice cream, with cream as a base (rahter than milk as in gelato). Three main ingredients are used - cream, eggs an sugar, nothing more, nothing less.  Organice and locally made, with no preservatives, all made from scratch. The ice cream is made at the small ice cream factory at Långgatan, then sold at the deli shop Gusto Classico on the main street Hamngatan.

Favourite flavour of the owner

"Our vanilla ice crean, no question about it", says Mathias, the owner and ice cream maker at Österhagen.
