Locally produced food and crane dance

Café Doppingen makes wonderful home-made pastries to go with your coffee as you sit back and enjoy the fantastic view over Hornborgasjön. Buns, pastries and delicious cakes are all baked with experience, love and butter. Cakes without gluten or milk protein. Large sandwiches, salads and hot dishes are available if you would prefer something more filling. Carefully selected ingredients with as much local produce and organically grown as possible.

Sit out on the terrace when the weather is fine - you’ll get the best bird-watching on one of Europe's largest bird lakes. In the spring, thousands of cranes descend on Hornborgasjön for their mating dance - a spectacle that you simply must see live!

Walk in a nature reserve and cultural history areas

In the summertime the meadow around Café Doppingen is full of flowers, swaying trees, grazing cattle and sheep. Take some coffee and cakes into the nature reserve - walk along the footpath Pilgrimsleden (The Pilgrim trail) or go to the visitor centre Naturum by Hornborgasjön, Kata Farm and Varnhem Abbey. Take a trip to Billingen, experience the scenic countryside in Vallebygden which has wonderful cherry blossom every spring.
