Southern heritage canal - Culture tour nr. 6

Innovative art, traditional handicrafts, modern design, medieval church paintings, the finest cultivated plants and the wingbeats of history. We have put together six suggested day tours for those who want to explore the art and culture of Dalsland. Tour nr. 6 takes you to through the southern part of the Dalsland canal.

Southern heritage canal

A good piece of advice is to take your time on your journey along the canal. Admire the landscape and the engineering features of the locks and famous aqueduct that were constructed in the 1860s. Income from the ironworks in Billingsfors and Bäckefors was used to build a world-class romantic park at
Baldersnäs. In Dals Långed you have an opportunity to re-stock with books and see an exhibition. Kanalmuseet is a museum in Håverud that recounts the history of the canal, and in Upperud you can see modern design and art in a fine old industrial setting.

In our digital map, you will find map positions and directions to all the places to visit on the tour.
