Nature Reserve Äng
Dals-Ed

Dalslands largest continuous archaeological area.

In the reserve you can explore the archaeological site with sixty-tall burial mounds, stone settlements and a magistrate ring from the younger Iron Age. The area is easy to hike and child-friendly.

At Äng you can walk along an area that was formed when the ice melted in Ed. You can look out over the landscape that was covered by sea before. If you go down the slope, you can see the cobblestone valleys from the ancient Arctic Ocean.

Hiking

Äng is located in the center of Ed. Here you will find great geological natural values. The vegetation consists of pine forest, with hardwoods and spruce. At Äng you can walk on the surface of the iceage. From the edge of the delta, you can look out over what once was covered by the Arctic Ocean.
