The trails of Ed
Dals-Ed
Five different hiking trails (1.2 - 4.9 km) in and around central Ed that can also be combined to longer hikes.
1. The Green trail
Timmertjärn och Sågtjärn
Length: 4.9 km
At the pond Timmertjärn there is an activity park with a playground, multiplane, wind shelter and a barbecue hut. Around the pond there is a short, wide and lighted walking loop with an easily accessible surface.
Sågtjärn is actually two ponds and trails goes on forest paths around Stora Sågtjärn. At Stora Sågtjärn there is a popular swimming area with changing rooms, jetty and shallow water. Along the trail there are several nice view points with a campsite at the northwest end of the trail.
2. The blue trail
Skansen and the marina
Length: 2.4 km
At Ed's nature reserve Skansen, which is directly adjacent to the railway station, you will find the King Karl XII's memorial stone where there are remains of a parapet from the time of Karl XII, and a nature reserve with exciting flora. At the far end of the headland in the north-eastern part of the trail is the old sawmill area and the marina by Lake Stora Le.
3. The Orange trail
The eye of the forest and the Moose Park
Length: 2.7 km
At the camping site and log houses is the defense facility called "Redutten", which was built during the Napoleonic Wars. From here you continue under the county road into a tunnel where, after a bit of climbing, you will reach a viewpoint over the pond with the beautiful name - Skogens öga (the eye of the forest). From there you follow a hilly forest path back towards the camping site and around the moose park. On several occasions you get a sweeping view of the community of Ed and the lakes.
4. The Red trail
Domarringen and Ängs nature reserve
Length: 1.2 km
At Ängs nature reserve is Dalsland's largest contiguous area with ancient remains, on the edge of the old delta that was formed when the ice from the ice age retreated. The area is easy to walk, child-friendly with a playground. Easily accessible from the campsite.
5. The White trail
The promenade around lake Lilla Le
Length: 4.6 km
The trail follows the lake and consists of both forest paths, gravel surfaces and paved streets through residential areas. The trail connects the town with the Äng residential area. You pass the central swimming area, the Terassparken with a play ground and activity area and the camping sites swimming area. Lilla Le is a lake with clear and clean water. The lake is a so-called death ice pit, trapped between two moraine tracts and located about 35 meters higher than Stora Le.
