Billingsfors, even called ”Billingen” by the locals, an active society
The little village Billingsfors is situated 7 km south of Bengtsfors along the road 172. About 1400 persons live in houses placed on the slopes with a magnificant view over lake Laxsjö. Billingsfors has a successfull innebandy team and its sport society lately turned hundred years old.
In this village integration is handled as a priority issue; many lovely parties and meetings for every citizen are organized all year round.
Here you can find a food shop, some other shops and two restaurants. The presence of the paper mill characterizes the village, this is even made clear by the church, which is an old factory church, well worth to be looked at.

To Billingsfors belong three locks of Dalslands Canal, probably the most beautiful ones. Near by the rapids ”Höljerudsforsarna” is the remarkable local bathing place and a Nature Reserve. A new Nature Reserve is called “Ösan”, inviting for nice walks, with places to pause and barbeque. You will find another bathing palce out on the island ”Billingsholm”.
In the idyllic manor park on Billingsholm an ancient open air theatre with slate-covered seats invites you in summer season to attend local song or plays. On the evening before may 1st (Valborgsmässoafton), the paper mill offers a great fire work show. They even arrange a cozy family midsummer party there.
