The north trail
Åmål
The north trail, located north of Åmål, is a trail for the whole family. When biking in a slow pace the trail will take about 2-3 hours. A big part of the trail goes on bicycle roads free from car traffic.
From the starting point at the tourist office in Åmål, follow the bicycle road north along Karlstadsvägen, follow the bike path signs towards Säffle. When reaching Kasenbergsvägen after a 4 km ride, you leave the bicycle road and cross the E 45 – a lot of traffic, please be careful!
Small gravel road
About 300 m in on the gravel road the trail turns left and follows a very small and partially poor gravel road for about 400 m. It might be easier to walk the bike on this part of the trail.
Berga Bistro
The trail continues on a smaller asphalt road with limited traffic towards Sjövik and Kilarne. At first you bike through a wooded area and later on through a more open landscape with some houses here and there. This part of the trail goes along Norra Viken. Before you turn back towards Åmål you will cross the border to Värmland. On the way back to Åmål you pass by the restaurant Berga Bistro, a perfect place for lunch!
